One-on-Ones with LUX Scotland

Our monthly One-on-One sessions are part of LUX Scotland’s membership programme, SUPERLUX. Available to all Scotland-based artists, researchers and organisers, SUPERLUX provides its members access to special events, bursaries, concessionary rates and a host of member-only opportunities, of which our One-on-One series is part. SUPERLUX is free to join in its first year through generous support from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.

Our One-On-Ones are bookable through the SUPERLUX members page. These one-hour sessions are for artists, based in Scotland, working with moving image who are no longer in full-time education.

These are informal sessions with LUX staff and invited guests aimed at developing a wide-ranging dialogue around your practice and can involve any or all of the following areas:

– Looking at and discussing your work

– Advice on developing your practice and looking at other works that may be of interest

– Advice on exhibition possibilities, appropriate organisations and events to approach

– Self-promotion advice

– Funding advice

– Production advice

Frequently asked questions

How can I book a one-on-one?

Stay up to date with future one-on-one sessions and book sessions by becoming a member of SUPERLUX. Signing up is simple and free.

How long to sessions last?

Sessions last for one hour

Can I bring some work to show?

Yes, please do. You are welcome to bring work for us to look at. Please bring it on a laptop, USB stick or external harddrive. We would advise not to bring too much work and to *not* rely on streaming your work from the internet. You can also bring other material to discuss too, like project or practice descriptions.

Why are the number of sessions so limited?

It is important to us that LUX Scotland is an open organisation that is accessible to everyone, however we are a very small team and do not have the resources to meet as many people as we would like. We ask that those who have already attended a one-to-one session within the previous six months get in touch directly with the office before booking another session.

Are sessions organised outside of Glasgow?

Yes, we aim to offer One-on-One sessions outside of Glasgow every alternate month.

These sessions are usually organised in partnership with other organisations and groups, often in tandem with a talk or a screening. If you would like LUX Scotland to come to you and do a day of advice sessions/studio visits please get in touch, we usually ask that you just cover our costs (travel and accommodation if needed).

How do I get in touch?

If you have any questions or queries please email us: scotland [at] lux.org.uk
