LUX Scotland Public Meeting

A meeting open to the public will be held in Tramway, Glasgow, Friday 30th May, 11am to discuss LUX Scotland, a new support and promotion agency for artists working with the moving image in Scotland launching this Summer.

Based at Trongate 103 in Glasgow, LUX Scotland will draw on the resources and international network of LUX to create new dedicated support agency for artists’ moving image in Scotland. LUX has received pilot support from Creative Scotland and Glasgow Life to research and develop future structure and activities over the coming year. Planned activities of LUX Scotland will include the establishment a new distribution collection of artists’ moving image work produced in Scotland; a new professional support programme for Scottish artists working with the moving image (which will include workshops, courses, funding and residency opportunities); new touring and screening initiatives in collaboration with arts venues across Scotland; new support structures for artists’ moving image production and new public research resources.

In addition, LUX Scotland aims to consolidate and build on LUX’s ongoing work supporting artists’ moving image work in Scotland which currently includes the annual Margaret Tait Award and Residency in collaboration with Glasgow Film and Pier Arts Centre, the annual Tramway Festival of Moving Images, the CCA/LUX Critical Forum, a monthly artists discussion group with the Centre for Contemporary Arts, and the ongoing BBC Scotland Artists in the Archive residencies.

The meeting will be led by Benjamin Cook, Director of LUX and Isla Leaver-Yap, Project Director of LUX Scotland.
