Applying for funding – whether for research, travel, production or developing practical skills – requires one to be a keen reader as well as a clear writer. This event opens a conversation about what funders are looking for when they create their grants, make their criteria, and how they decide where the money should go. Headed by the Chairman of The Elephant Trust, Benjamin Cook, in conversation with Screen Officer for Creative Scotland, Mark Thomas, this discussion examines the specifics of what makes a good application, what materials are useful to include, and how to work with multiple funding strands, as well as exploring the finer points of medium-specific applications for artists working with the moving image.

SUPERLUX Dialogues is LUX Scotland’s ongoing series of conversations that invite guest speakers to explore practical issues for artists working with the moving image. SUPERLUX is generously supported by Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
