World-wide, there are hundreds of festivals that specialise in showing and promoting artists’ moving image work. Whether demanding premiere status for works, programming their annual festivals according to thematic principles, or specialising in durational formats (begging the question how short is a short film?’), the criteria for each festival can require careful navigation by artists who seek to work with them.

Drawing on their personal and professional experience of programming, directing and working with festivals (including International Film Festival Rotterdam, Oberhausen, Courtisane, Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival, and London Film Festival, to name only a few), Maria Palacios Cruz (Deputy Director of LUX) and Peter Taylor (Director of Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival) will discuss the essentials of working with festivals, including: what marketing and materials artists require; organisations that may be able to assist; submission formats and spaces of display; and much more.

This event is likely to be booked out. Register for your free place via the SUPERLUX Dialogues page.
