Join artist Tako Taal for a SUPERLUX Workshop in Aberdeen that will introduce approaches to framing, the body and strategies of resistance in moving image making.

Drawing on the work of black filmmakers, particular attention will be given to surface, gesture and the relationship between body and camera, accompanying an exploration of different techniques of observing, recording and editing.

Working within and against the limitations of the cinematic image, participants will collectively devise strategies for image-making, considering DIY and amateur approaches alongside examples of Taal’s own work and references to the work of other artists including Sondra Perry, Emma Wolukau-Wanambwa and Arthur Jafa.

Please bring your own preferred device for filming (smartphone/DSLR/digital camera) or contact email hidden; JavaScript is required if you don’t have access to one of these devices and would like to take part.
