Be the first to see brand new short films from international talents and Scotland-based artists and filmmakers that celebrate the life, legacy, attitude or approach of Scotland’s filmmaking pioneer: Margaret Tait (1918 – 1999).
The launch will include the premiere of commissions by director and critic Mark Cousins; artist, musician and filmmaker Luke Fowler; artist Alexander Storey Gordon; artist and filmmaker Matt Hulse; artist Wendy Kirkup and composer Richy Carey; director Morag Mckinnon; author Ali Smith and filmmaker Sarah Wood; artist Catherine Street; and curator and artist Peter Todd. Shown alongside three films by Tait, including early works My Room, Via Ancona 21 (1951), Rose Street (1956), and her final film Garden Pieces (1998), the new commissions are part of the Margaret Tait 100, a year-long centenary celebration that includes screenings, exhibitions, workshops, readings and new publishing.
The screening on Sunday 18 August will be followed by a discussion with some of the commissioned artists and filmmakers – sold out

The Margaret Tait 100 programme is run in partnership with LUX Scotland, University of Stirling and Pier Arts Centre.
Margaret Tait 100 was a year-long centenary celebration of the work of Scotland’s pioneering filmmaker and poet Margaret Tait that ran from November 2018 to November 2019.
