We’re excited to release our second set of research bursaries for researchers (including artists, curators and programmers) who work with the moving image and are based in Scotland. The bursaries will be made available in August 2022, allowing three researchers free digital access to the LUX Collection for a two-week period that month.

Further rounds of bursaries will be publicised every three months. These bursaries replace our (pre-pandemic, in-person) research sessions.

The LUX collection is managed by LUX in London and is the largest distribution collection of artists’ moving image in Europe with over 5000 works by 1,251 artists from the 1920s to the present day. A complete list of works in the LUX Collection is available on the LUX online catalogue.

Selected bursary recipients will receive a login valid for a two-week period that will offer access to all works currently available online from LUX.

You are welcome to apply for a bursary every month, unless you are selected for a bursary (to support as many people as possible, no individual will be awarded a bursary more than once a year). We will draw names out of a hat to select bursary recipients.

To apply, please email your name to email hidden; JavaScript is required with‘August research bursary’ in the subject line, by 10am on Tuesday 2 August 2022.

Selected bursary recipients will be notified by Thursday 4 August 2022.
