Part of LUX Critical Forum
Saturday 6 September, 4 – 6pmDundee Contemporary Arts
LUX Scotland will present the inaugural meeting of the LUX Critical Forum Dundee, hosted by DCA. This new forum joins a series of self-led LUX groups in London, Glasgow, and Dublin, which provide a space for the discussion of moving image work.
This monthly forum aims to provide an opportunity for artists working with the moving image to share, discuss and develop their own ideas and practice through presenting moving image work by other artists and filmmakers, and read texts they are interested in.
Our inaugural meeting will be an opportunity look at some work, discuss the format of the group, schedule the next meeting, and to meet other people who share an interest in moving image work. Mason Leaver-Yap and Luke Collins (Director and Project Manager of LUX Scotland) will guide the meeting, alongside invited participants of the LUX Critical Forum Glasgow who will talk about their experience of the group in its two years of operation.
This meeting will be followed by the opening of Heather Phillipson, sub-fusc love-feast, in the DCA galleries.
The LUX Critical Forum (2014–21) was a series of peer-led monthly discussion groups hosted by LUX Scotland online and in-person across Scotland. The aim of the Critical Forum groups was to develop a mutually supporting environment for artists, curators, writers and researchers who work with the moving image to talk about ideas and practice in dialogue with LUX Scotland. These groups continued LUX’s work supporting groups in London, Newcastle, Dublin, Dundee, Cornwall, Belfast, and Bristol.
