LUX Scotland is delighted to present Miko Revereza’s film No Data Plan in partnership with Document Human Rights Film Festival.

“Mama has two phone numbers. We do not talk about immigration on her Obama phone. For that we use the other number with no data plan.” In his accomplished first feature, undocumented filmmaker Miko Revereza depicts a train journey he took across America in 2018. Utilising a potent mix of discreet recordings, sound design, on-screen subtitles and Instagram stories, the film successfully reflects its maker’s lived experience, but also that of the millions of other marginalised people whose every movement is similarly imperilled. Both scintillating observational study and politically charged personal documentary, No Data Plan is a travelogue of an altogether different kind.

Miko Revereza (b.1988 Manila,Philippines) is an experimental filmmaker and undocumentedimmigrant. Since relocating from Manila as a child, he has lived illegally in the United States forover 25 years. This life long struggle with documentation, assimilation and statelessnessinformshis films,DROGA!(2014),DISINTEGRATION 93 – 96(2017) and his debut feature,Nodata plan(2018). Miko’s films have been widely screened and exhibited internationally atfestivals such as,International Film Festival Rotterdam, Yamagata International DocumentaryFilm Festival, International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, True/​False Film Festival, ImagesFestival,andBerwick Film & Media Arts Festival.DISINTEGRATION 93 – 96was featured andstreamed on MUBI​.com.
