Call for Submissions: Creative Lab Residency

AC Projects offers support for artists/​musicians/​composers to challenge themselves and find new ways to approach creativity. We are looking for submissions that present ideas that are not fully formed. The residency is not about rehearsing an already developed idea but is about exploring notions of what music can be. Dedicated to contemporary art and ideas, Hospitalfield is a historic house in Arbroath, East Coast of Scotland. Applications are invited from artists who have a specific project or period of work to focus on and for whom this time will be invaluable. The funded residency programmes (Summer and Autumn) are devised for those developing their working lives within the scope of contemporary visual art practice.

Applications Open for Summer School Programmer 2019Hospitalfield, Arbroath

Dedicated to contemporary art and ideas, Hospitalfield is a historic house in Arbroath, East Coast of Scotland. FIELDWORK is an annual 2.5 day discursive, residential summer school that brings between 50 and 80 participants to camp in the grounds of Hospitalfield to participate in a programme of presentations, workshops, discussions and outings. It is an intensive experience, which brings people together to think about a central theme or question developed by the selected programmer. Hospitalfield is seeking an individual or collaboration who are able to produce a well-considered outline proposal that Hospitalfield can assist in delivering.

Call for Applications: BellRock 2019 Screenwriting WorkshopsHospitalfield, Arbroath

Dedicated to contemporary art and ideas, Hospitalfield is a historic house in Arbroath, East Coast of Scotland. BellRock is an inspiring, challenging and practical programme giving filmmakers and screenwriters a chance to work with a team of established international industry mentors to develop original screenplays during a series of residencies and discussions. his project arises from an identified strategic need for additional support for filmmakers and screenwriters based in Scotland highlighted within Creative Scotland’s Film Strategy, and is a partnership with Producer, Mentor and Script Consultant Olivia Stewart of Three Rivers Film; and Hospitalfield.

The Banff Artist in Residence (BAiR) program is designed for visual artists to focus on their own practice in a supportive learning environment. Participants are encouraged to explore new ideas, create, self-direct their research and time, and cultivate new directions in their work — all while surrounded by a community of peers within Banff Centre’s spectacular mountain setting.

Open Call for Proposals: Projections at Tyneside CinemaNewcastle upon Tyne

Tyneside Cinema invites applications from curators interested in curating and presenting an original programme as part of the Projections series. They are seeking proposals that investigate particular contemporary currents or concerns which might be articulated by artists’ moving image practice. Given the context of the series, the ability to respond meaningfully to the site of the cinema – the specific experience of viewing artists’ moving image in the cinema space – is important.

Call for Entries: Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival 2019

Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival (BFMAF) is one of the UK’s leading festivals for new cinema and artists’ moving image. Based in England’s most northerly town, BFMAF is a dynamic forum where fresh artistic voices develop and audiences hungry for complex and challenging art are nurtured. The 15th Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival is now open for submissions. Entries will be considered for all areas of the programme including cinema screenings – all lengths and formats, and moving image-based installations & performance works.

Jerwood and FVU announce 2020 award theme Hindsight’

Hindsight is always 20/​20’, said the great film director Billy Wilder – giving voice to a feeling, shared by many, that life, for all its mystery and complexity, would be so much more explicable and fulfilling if we had understood in the past what we are able to see all too clearly today. The 2020 edition of the Jerwood/​FVU Awards offers an increased budget of £25,000 for each of the two commissioned moving image artworks in response to the theme.
